Overview
A timeless liberty villa with commanding views of Lake Como
Rising nearly 900 metres above Lake Como Villa Lago is a landmark of early twentieth-century architecture, fully restored to honour its original elegance while introducing a contemporary sense of comfort. Surrounded by expansive Alpine gardens and with no neighbours in sight, this secluded estate commands a cinematic panorama of the lake and Prealpine foothills — a view that shifts with the light, hour by hour.
With over 1,200 square metres of living space across three floors, Villa Lago accommodates up to 14 guests in complete privacy. The residence’s heritage architecture is matched by a generous layout: eight bedrooms, seven with en-suite bathrooms, are complemented by multiple sitting rooms, a dining hall, a study, and a series of panoramic terraces. Every room is designed to maximise light and view, with fine fabrics, marble finishes, and carefully curated furnishings.
Indoor refinement, outdoor freedom
The main villa is flanked by a dedicated entertainment wing, offering a yoga and wellness room, multimedia lounge, and bar, as well as a separate play area and treehouse for younger guests. A pergola-covered dining terrace makes the most of the lake-facing aspect, while inside, the formal dining room offers a more intimate atmosphere for evening meals.
A second terrace crowns the roof of the modern pool house — a sleek, glass-framed pavilion that blends effortlessly with the natural surroundings. From here, the infinity-edge heated pool seems to spill into the lake below. The pool house itself is more than a shelter from the sun: with a full kitchen, central island, and open living space, it’s a stylish day retreat in its own right. Comfortable seating, sweeping mountain views, and a hot tub make it equally suited to relaxed afternoons or early evening aperitivi.
An elevated escape steeped in character
Throughout the property, guests will find ample spaces for gathering or retreat: from the billiard room to quiet balconies, and from high-tech multimedia areas to hidden garden corners. Fast Wi-Fi, English satellite channels, a Sonos sound system, and games for all ages provide a seamless blend of old-world grandeur and modern ease.
Though worlds away from city life, Villa Lago is less than an hour from Milan, and just above the lakeside village of Argegno, accessible by cable car. The area has long inspired filmmakers and travellers alike — a place where cobbled paths lead to ancient viewpoints, and the silence of the mountains is broken only by the breeze.
